“I want what’s on that ship”
Alien: Earth finally has a full trailer, that FX released June 5th, 2025. At just over two minutes long we get, what I would say is, our first real clear look at the upcoming Alien series.
Almost instantly we learn about a place called Neverland Research Island, located on Earth in the year 2120. A human-synthetic hybrid “project”, and a ship, presumably the USCSS Maginot, crash landing in the middle of Prodigy City. We see shots of the Xenomorph, but I think the biggest spin on this series is that they again refrence the other creatures that this deep space research vessel has captured.
In no way do I want to see the Xenomorph replaced, but I think these other creatures, or monsters, will not only add a new element to the IP. But it will allow it to hopefully expand, thrive, and hopefully keep us on our toes. As with any Alien film we have a general idea of what will, or should, happen. This may be that new addition that the IP needs to regain that tension and suspense that the original film, and even the second and third film had that made them so great.
All in all this looks like it will be a good series, hopefully a great series. It looks visually appealing, and though the sets seem fairly bright compared to the darker sets of the original trilogy of films it feels ok at first glance as it looks like they’re trying to make it their own, and not just reproduce the films. Something we saw in Alien Romulus with some sections of the station, like the Romulus lab being bright, white, and fairly sterile vs. the dirt and grit of the Corbelan IV. Already I can feel myself getting excited for this series and want to see how this plays out.
